OBA 6A State Championships

The OBA State 6A State Marching Band Championships are scheduled for Saturday, October 31st at Broken Arrow High School

COMPLETE CONTEST ITINERARY 

Band Room Unlocked 5:00 am – No need to be here before then. Students should arrive with proper black undergarments and be ready to dress out.

Uniform Check-Out 5:15 am - Students should get into show cosutmes and put uniform bags and hangers on uniform racks.

Finish Loading Semis, Load Box Truck w/ Uniform Racks 5:30 am - Double check to make sure nothing has been left behind. Students put on uniforms and hanging bags go on uniform racks.

Load Buses 6:15 am - Go to the restroom before getting on the bus. Any last minute Instructions will be written on the board.

Depart for Broken Arrow 6:30 am - Need to be prompt with departure.

Arrive in Broken Arrow 7:00 am - Check in, wristbands distributed, park, get ready for unloading & set up.

Front Ensemble Lined Up 8:10 am - Ready to Transit to Warm-Up Area - Front Ensemble Warms Up at 8:25 am. 

Band Lined Up in Contest Block 8:20 am - Ready to Transit to Warm-Up Area - We will line up in an established compact block so we can begin with marching fundamentals. Instructions will be given at appropriate time.

Front Ensemble Warm Up (Area A) 8:25 am

Warm-Up (Area A) 8:40 am - The warm up for this contest is an all-inclusive warm up for 45 minutes, but we will separate it into 3 segments: stretch and marching fundamentals, sectional warm up, and full group warm up. We will be surrounded by other bands going through the same process - concentrate on what we are doing. Do not to be distracted as we prepare for competition.

Props Transit to Staging Area 9:15 am

Preliminary Performance 9:45 am - After performance - return back at our camp. Change out of uniform, organize equipment for finals performance, and get ready for lunch. Students are encouraged to wear show shirt, travel shirt or Jenks clothing during down time – not required at this contest, but highly encouraged to show school spirit and unity.

Lunch 11:00 am

After lunch, because of our performance time, students will have the opportunity to watch bands perform for the last block of the afternoon. Remember to watch what you say and do. Act and speak first class the entire day. Also remember not to waste energy. You will need everything you have for a top level finals performance.

Everyone should be in the stands, sitting together for prelim awards. Drum Majors should be in full uniform and meet at the NW gate by 4:00pm for Prelim Awards.

Dinner 5:00pm -Talk Time and other details will be announced. The evening itinerary will depend on the draw times for finals. Dinner is provided by the band parents. Remember that it is traditional for families and alumni to attend this dinner. Make sure and show your appreciation to all by thanking them. Afterwards, STUDENTS make sure and clean up after yourselves. Do not trash the place.

Remember, the time in-between prelims and finals WILL be spent OFF of your feet. Be smart and conserve both your physical and mental energy for our finals performance.
