Volunteer hours description
The Jenks Volunteer Program is an important part of citizenship.  Since its inception in 1986, the program has grown steadily with volunteers making a difference in all aspects of the school district.  Over 2,000 JPS volunteers consistently donate more than 100,000 hours of service to the students and staff in our school system.  Volunteer hours are part of the summative data for a school. This data becomes part of the overall evaluation for a school. Program evaluation is the process of systematically determining the quality of a school program and how the program can be improved. When the number of volunteer hours and areas of volunteer work are know, the school can determine its needs and set priorities. The volunteers, their talents, and he amount of time given can influence program approaches, materials and equipment, schedules and other structuring choices in order to build a program that has a high likelihood of student success.

Why we track volunteer hours?
These statistics are used for a variety of reasons that can assist the school an specific groups when it comes to things like applying for grants.

Why we track volunteer hours?
Volunteer time is any time contributed toward the school’s programs. Such as:
·         Committee meetings and preparation
·         All volunteer activities, including work at home hours
·         Chaperoning (in town and out of town)
·         Booster Club activities
·         Fundraisers
·         Working merchandise tables
·         Newsletter production
·         Recording keeping

What is NOT to be recorded:
·         Concessions hours (they do their own)

Parent Volunteer Information - In order to ensure the safety of our students and to comply with school regulations, volunteer policies and procedures are required for every volunteer.  In the Jenks Band organization, a volunteer defines any of us that perform a task that benefits the program.  This would include chaperoning, working concessions, helping with food services, holding a board position, selling spirit wear, working with uniforms, etc...(I think you probably see the pattern....it applies to ALL of us…   :-)

With that being said, we need everyone that is performing one of these functions to fill out a volunteer application and process a lobby guard application.  The volunteer app is totally on line.  It does NOT produce paperwork for you to print out and turn in.  Please use this link to perform this task prior to fulfilling the duties of volunteering this season https://jenks.instructure.com/courses/6640

Very important - In the “Teacher” section, you need to put “Scott Hillock”.  This way, Kathy Guenther, the district volunteer coordinator, can run a report on this field for us showing us everyone that has met this requirement.

The second step - School Safe (formerly Lobby Guard) is needed to complete this application.  You need to run your Driver's License through a School Safe machine and get a sticker that is generated.  These machines can be found at the main entrances for building 5, 6, Math & Science Center, and the Freshman Academy. We will then match this sticker with your on line volunteer app and let the magic begin!
