NCDA Honor Band Congratulations

Congratulations to the 8th grade students who made the 2018-2019 NCDA All-Region Honor Band!!! We had ELEVEN 8th grade students make the band this year.  This is quite an accomplishment, especially because the honor band is composed of 8th and 9th graders.  I'm so proud of everyone who auditioned, regardless if you made the band or not.  The only real failure in life is the failure to try.

The students who made the band are:

3rd Flute Lily Niu
4th Flute Manu Ganti
11th Flute Erin Wilson
12th Flute Kate Swenson
2nd Oboe Akshay Koushik
1st Alternate Oboe Arturo Puigbo
1st Alternate Bassoon Hannah Regier
4th French Horn Michael Deutscher
1st Trombone Matthew Beyer
4th Percussion Thomas Deutscher
4th Alternate Percussion Joshua Beiler

Honor Band Clinic Information:

A trip itinerary will be uploaded here soon.  Each student is to pay $25.00 Hotel Fee. Check or Cash is acceptable. Cash should be exact change (Miss Arnold will not be able to make change) and in an envelope marked with your name. Checks should be made out to Jenks Band. The fee is due on or before Thursday, December 15th.

Honor band music was passed out to students in class.  Students should regularly and dilligently practice honor band music so as to be prepared for group rehearsals. These rehearsals are intended for the group to learn to play as an ensemble, experience quality literature, enjoy the honor band experience, and give a top quality performance on Saturday afternoon. In order for this to occur, students must learn the notes, rhythms, and dynamics prior to the honor band clinic.

Alternates should also practice their music and pack a suitcase in case they are called up at the last minute. It is not unusual for this to happen. More often than not, the call happens late the night before or the morning of the clinic.
